underbelly records return this january with a three track ep from dutch producer wouter de moor, entitled >dx love< and backed with a remix from kris wadsworth.
the kris wadsworths zombie surfer remix opens the ep here and in true wadsworth fashion embraces a raw, dubbed out detroit vibe. punchy drilling beats and underlying twisted melodies drive the track alongside a penetrating arpeggiated bass-line, the result is a moody, peak-time slow bloomer with a touch of class as expected from the detroit master.

call it whatever you want. we think of it simply as techno music. deep, raw, mystical and industrialesque music that makes you think about your desires and gives you the illusion of clearing away time and space. having lived in almost all corners of the world, it took nothing more than finding themselves in berlin, a dose of random chance and a barside conversation for irakli and yacoub to figure out they had similar views about music - and so, i/y was born. i/y 001 is a three track intense journey into the depths of techno.

for their 10th release manchester based label my first moth present a collaboration between two visionary artists from opposite sides of the atlantic. new york born rapper blurum 13 should need no introduction after lacing countless records from the last decade with his distinctive gravel-voiced flow, most notably the classic ninja tune album >children of possibility< which he recorded as one-third of one self alongside dj vadim and yarah bravo. producer frameworks is a relative newcomer although still fiercely prolific, having notched up collaborations with long island legends qnc and uk rapper bang on amongst others. with releases on first word records, hero records and organik recordings, frameworks is quickly forging a reputation for a solid production technique, fusing old-school sensibilities with a touch of live instrumentation and a keen ear for a killer sample.

2012 was definitely the year of alex q. combining passion for music and incredible talent, he released not only a series of original ep s for labels like ostwind or his own baby kleinstadtfeeling, but also remixes for world famous artists such as kollektiv turmstraße on the well known - musik gewinnt freunde- imprint. to finalize this years success, iww music is dropping alex s masterpiece „guten morgen rosengarten“. perfectly representing his current style this piece of art contains harmony, melodiy and a thriving mixture of organic and synthetic sounds, that just makes you wanna dance! on the b-side labelheads and artists maxage and fabian kranz are embodying the current sound of iww: oldschool beats and raw synths.

funked up raw chicago house monster

these redux releases are like buses, we dont hear anything for ages then they hit us with three killer eps in a row. following the grand corporation and machete savane comes the return of phoreski. we have not heard much from phoreski for a little while, but you will soon hear why when you put the needle to the record on these two new tracks. he has been busily building up his studio into an enviable aladdins den of vintage kit, wires and analogue recording equipment. all synths and vocals you hear on these tracks come from phoreski, no samples, no guests, no edits. he has been hinting at this raw, analogue authentic sound for a while, but these tracks showcase a producer at one with the machines. >brown biscuits< comes across like some lost italo/cosmic gem, but via the north east of england rather than the lakes of italy. >machines< flexes tight proto-house rhythms with some bass that will make mince meat of lesser club soundsystems whilst the feuding synth lines fight for attention. this is proper body music, play loud!

is it balearic hit their late 20s with another superb release - this time craig bratley steps up with analogue dreams. craig has earnt quite a reputation from only a handful of releases, including the weatherall favourite and classic cut >birdshell< on instruments of rapture. on analgue dreams, craig lays down a gently evolving, acid tinged piano slow burner, all mood and melody. first up on the remix we have the ever essential bonar bradberry who amps things up and takes a clonking bass riff down the disco for a real good time. on the flip crimea x pare the musical elements right down and build an epic remix from the raw ingredients, employing live percussion and shimmering synths. finally joes bakery dial down the tempo and incorporate some deft acoustic guitar and gentle moodswings alongside the musical elements of the original.

brooklyn synth/post punk outfit brings this ep to the lectric sands label. colors brings a raw guitar, deep synth bass, & a sassy dadaist vocal. cities of the plain is a more minimal cut with a chiming rhythm that is followed by the reporter is a plant. zoovox takes side b with a remix.

psychemagik return to their disco imprint label discotheque wreckers with a fresh new 12inch of unknown nuggets and killer edits. the first cut what a funky night as the title suggests is a raw funky disco floorfiller, a freaky blend of euro rap and oddball new wave femme vox, from austria of all places, the b side rounds off the 12inch perfectly with a dubbed out, arpeggiated krautrock jam, with freaky vox, funky guitar licks and nasty ass drums makes this an essential crate dweller!

r&s welcome new signing mpia3 to the label with a doublepack of uncompromising techno. mpia3 is a production alias of truss (perc trax) who has just the two eps preceding this on shifteds avian label. >your orders< see him continue down the path of raw, industrial, seriously funky, acid techno. his signature overdriven kicks recall classic robert armani and his sound harks back to the days of mike dearbourn and djax up beats, and the classic uk techno of ben sims and james ruskin but the tracks on >your orders< could have only been made in 2012. this is heavyweight music built for proper soundsystems and dark rooms. the six tracks on the ep straddle different tempos with some slick drum programming, but are tied together with some razor sharp synths and a healthy dose of acid.

cocoon recordings is back in full force with the follow up to last years superb vinyl compilation >dots & pearls< providing a tracklisting that is nothing less than the modern interpretation of house, techno and tech-house >dots & pearls< ii eschews monotonous loops and predictable formulas and rather delivers a selection packed with energy and depth.

assemble music returns with a three-track ep from colognes david joseph aka st. joseph, exploring further the refined, tripping path forged on the labels previous release from daze maxim. the pianos, vocal snatches and ambient hiss of josephs releases on platzhirsch are present and correct, but here the jazz flourishes are reduced down into something far slicker. these tracks have been prepared using a keen blade, and none sharper than >personal dancefloor<. heavy drum programming and a rumbling bottom end bring to mind theo parrish in his moodier moments, but the deal is sweetened by light piano, garage-like vocal samples and a deep, burning 4 love bassline. >indigo< spins the duke ellington classic into a spiralling, shuffling chugger that will bring a 30s harlem spirit to enterprising dancefloors. move the needle to the b2, though, for the eps party hit. written in 2009 and reflecting that years raw arrangements and joyous samples, >wave/table/muscle< finally gets a vinyl release, proving this sound endures to this day. expect more of the same from assemble music with their next release featuring vera and ricardo villalobos.

vidab keeps on its quest of finding and releasing new and raw music. the 16th vinyl release of the berlin based label, comes from milans privat residents hiver with their debut production titled >a day< ep. hivers musical spectrum contains dark and distant elements, ranging from the darkest rhythms of dub-techno to melodic capturing lines. this can be evident in the two tracks on this single >a day< and >reduced< which convey their club experiences of moving a dancefloor in one solid package.

after the zohar comes black dynamite aka ivano tetelepta – another well kept secret in the house music scene. on his city to city ep the man delights us with three raw and extremely funky tracks which display a deep love for oldschool hip-hop beats. in fact, these three tracks oscillate heavily between stripped down, soulinfluenced house and instrumental hip-hop. and everyone who knows tenderpark will immediately understand that this is just the perfect synthesis of some of our main interests.

incl 2 bit crew, lgg, volta cab and rosenhaft. 2 bit crews just cant seem. taking a sound heavily influenced by the underground house music / garage sound of the 90s, this is a bumping groove with a driving bassline and hatswith a simple female vocal sample that will stick in your brain. the second track takes things deeper with bastien carrara aka lgg with let me, smooth rhodes chords with a love sensation sample underpinned by raw beats and sub-bass. on the second side things get a little tougher. the third track is from a producer who has had many releases already on labels such as balance alliance, seven music and undertones, konstantyn isaev, better known as volta cab. his track what is underground focuses primarily on a killer bassline, retro synth stabs and a cheeky hip-hop sample used to great effect. finally is haim rosenhaft, a young producer from israel with 1992, his homage consists of an old school organ sound with heavy kicks and snares influenced by the sound of labels like umm and cleveland city in the 90s. again this will be a vinyl only release

the organ grinder made a lot of noise with his sought-after obsession track late last year. his unique and raw blend of deep house and uncompromising beats perfectly fits 4lux catalogue so, here the grinder serves you with 4 mighty dancefloor bombs. smiley face is a tough ravey club track with catchy vocals and blunt stabs. project features a collab with jessy allen resulting in a mesmerizing tune. universe is another pumping track reminiscent of early belgium rave music but then in a true organ grinder club-vibe. heaven is a smooth nugget with delicate strings, simple organ notes and atmospherical vocals.
